German Federal Cabinet approves Nutri-Score as extended nutritional labelling

The Nutri-Score labelling will probably be introduced in Germany in November.

 

On 19th of August, the Federal Cabinet approved the regulation on the introduction of the Nutri-Score as extended nutritional labelling in Germany. This regulation intended to enable the legally compliant use of Nutri-Score for foods placed on the market in Germany.

 

The next step will be the mandatory notification according to Art. 23 REG (EG) No 1924/2006. The notification process was started in March 2020 and will end in September, due to the six-month waiting period. After this the Federal Council will deal with the regulation. So BMEL expect the regulation in force in November 2020.

 

It's good to know that the laboratories of the AGROLAB GROUP will not only check the nutritional information analytically, but will also check that the labelling is correct and will also check the correct Nutri-Score classification.
