The approval periods for abamectin and other active substances were extended and changes regarding their use were newly regulated in Commission implementing regulations (EU) 2023/515 of 8.3.23 (valid from 12.4.2023) and (EU) 2023/689 of 20.3.23 (valid from 18.4.23).

For the active substance abamectin (CAS No. 71751-41-2), an 80:20 mixture of avermectin B1a and avermectin B1b, the ARfD is 0.005 mg/kg body weight. The active substance is authorised for use in greenhouses in 27 Member States. There are seasonal restrictions on use. Abamectin is acaricidal and insecticidal (i.e. against mites and insects) and is also effective against nematodes.

 

For the listed chemical active substances (except abamectin), applications for renewal of the authorisations were submitted which could not be decided in time. If the application is rejected for active substances, the expiry dates can be shortened.

The currently valid maximum residue limits continue to apply.
